The Poria spring (gr. Πηγή Πωριά Pigí Poriá) is located in the middle of the island of Kos on the outskirts of Antimachia at the road to Kardamena, just after the roundabout in a natural depression at about 130 m above sea level.

Plakat Forest is far away from the beaches and other tourist attractions of the island a bit off the main road from Kos Town to Kefalos. Numerous peacocks live here together with many cats in a pine forest. Although the Plaka Forest is no longer an insider tip is still worth a visit to once experience a different side of the island.
The excavations of the ancient city of Alasarna are located just west of Kardamena on the south coast of Kos. In antiquity, Alasarna was a major center of the island. Remains of these times include an apollo temple and a theatre. Even in Byzantine times, the city was still an important trading place, the most important remains of this time are four early Christian basilicas including the Basilica of St. Theotitas.
Mastichári (gr .: Μαστιχάρι) is located approximately at the height of Antimachia up on the north coast of Kos. The small village with about 500 inhabitants used to live mainly from fishing, today it is also important as a port for the ferry service to the island of Kalymnos. The shortest connection and therefore the fastest ferry connection to the neighboring island starts from the port of Mastichári, ferries depart from here several times a day.
Skala Kafé & Cocktails Kardamena is located right at the harbor promenade of Kardamena surrounded by other touristic restaurants, cafés and bars. But the Skala is different, done with love, with better service and better food. A sure sign of this is the high number of locals visiting the Skala, especially in the off-season.
The village of Antimachia is located close to the airport of Kos on a flat plateau 23km southwest of Kos city and 4km south of Mastichari. Antimachia has a long, over 3000 year long history. Antimachia has a number of attractions, the most famous being a traditional farmhouse from the early 10th century and a traditional windmill directly opposite.
Antimachia Castle (also Fortress Antimachia, also Andimachia Castle, Greek Κάστρο Αντιμάχειας) is a medieval fortress on the Greek island of Kos, built by the Order of Saint John. It is located up on the hills above Kardamena and about 3 km east of the village Antimachia. The strategic position on a plateau above the bay of Kardamena allowed the control of the sea route between Kos and the island of Nisyros laying south and of the north-south connection in the interior of the island.
Kardamena, also Kardamaina, the only larger town at the south coast of Kos, was once a small fishing village and today is a more or less pure tourist destination focusing on simple package tourism. But with a bit of effort, there are also interesting corners to find as well as pleasant bars and restaurants in Kardamena. The harbor is also worth a look.
