Wernigerode is a town with a wonderfully preserved old town and a state-approved resort in the district of Harz (Saxony-Anhalt), it also describes itself as The colorful town in the Harz Mountains. The town center consists largely of half-timbered houses.
Halle (Saale) is an independent city in the south of Saxony-Anhalt in Germany, the fourth largest city in the new federal states and the largest city in Saxony-Anhalt. Halle shines today with an almost completely preserved old town with numerous sights.
Aschersleben is a town on the north-eastern edge of the Harz mountains in the valley of the river Eine in Saxony-Anhalt with around 27,000 inhabitants. It is the oldest documented town in Saxony-Anhalt. Aschersleben was a member of the Hanseatic League in the late Middle Ages and is today one of the few German cities with very well-preserved city fortifications and a largely intact medieval city centre.
Aschersleben Zoo is a zoo in the southwest of the city of Aschersleben in Saxony-Anhalt. It was founded in 1973 in the Alte Burg recreation area. The hilly, partly forest-like terrain of the zoo lies in the area of the last remains of Aschersleben Castle, whose last ruins now serve as an enclosure for the owls kept in the zoo.
The Moritzburg is a fortified castle in Halle (Saale). The castle, built in the late Gothic style, was built as the residence of the Archbishops of Magdeburg. Archbishop Ernst personally laid the foundation stone in 1484. Today, the Moritzburg, which since 1904 has primarily and exclusively housed an art museum with national appeal, is one of the most imposing buildings in Halle.
