Taverna Tsampala in Lampi near Kos town is our favorite restaurant on Kos Island. Although it looks rather unimpressive from the outside, it can score with excellent food, warmth and a long history. Whether Kleftiko, Stifado or fresh fish, every lover of Greek cuisine will find the right meal for him.
Unlike most restaurants in the area, the taverna tsampala offers authentic Greek food and so many Greeks, especially on holidays, come here to eat themselves. The kitchen is down to earth, original and good, the host always friendly. The restaurant is one of the oldest in the area and, if I remember correctly, a family business since the opening in the early 1950s.
