The Turkish bath (Hamam), to be more precise the old women's bath of Kos town is located behind the courthouse, at the passage to Platia Platanou (plane tree square) with the Tree of Hippocrates and the Loggia Mosque. The Haman was built in the 17th century, but severely damaged by the 1933 earthquake. It was rebuilt during Italian occupation, and operated until 1948 as a Turkish bath.
After being used as a bath, the building served as a salt depot until the 1980s, from this time comes the old Scale, which can be seen in the hall. The comparatively small building looks relatively unimpressive from the outside. The entrance is located in a corner of the building, behind which steps lead down into the large relaxation room. The individual areas of the bath are under masonry, coated with waterproof cement domes which are broken by light openings.
The Turkish bath can be visited free of charge.
