The city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on Gran Canaria is the largest city on the Canary Islands with around 380,000 inhabitants. It is also the capital of the Spanish province of Las Palmas and, together with Santa Cruz de Tenerife, one of the two capitals of the Canary Islands. The city is particularly characterized by its port, which is one of the largest in the Atlantic.
In addition to museums such as the Columbus Museum in the Casa de Colón, the Museo Canario and the Museo Néstor, the old town of Vegueta and the adjoining district of Triana with numerous Art Nouveau buildings are particularly worth seeing.
