Acropolis of Athens

The Acropolis in Athens is the best-known example of the city fortresses of ancient Greece, known as Acropolis. This oldest part of the city of Athens was rebuilt by Pericles on a flat rock in the 5th century BC after being prior destructions by the Persians. The buildings include the Propylaea, the Erechtheum, the Temple of Nike and the Parthenon Temple. The Acropolis of Athens has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986.
